The New Democratic Party of Alberta won two seats in the 1997 provincial election under the leadership of Pam Barrett, and emerged as the third-largest party in the Legislative Assembly. Information about the party's candidates can be found here.
Rogers joined the New Democratic Party in 1993, and campaigned for both the provincial and federal parties (Calgary Herald, 9 March 1997). Rogers later moved to New Westminster, British Columbia, and unsuccessfully sought the federal NDP nomination for the New Westminster—Coquitlam in the 2004 federal election (Vancouver Sun, 18 March 2004).
